During April we will have a special appeal drive to raise funds for our charity People helping People with fundraising events during the month. Read all about it here.

Our People Helping People Charity has a new name! In honour of our dear Father Bernardino who passed away in January, the charity will now be called “Gente Ajudando Gente - Associação Pe. Bernardino de Solidariedade Social" or "People Helping People - Fr. Bernardino Social Solidarity Association".

A special Mass was celebrated on the 18th February at the «Cantinho do Bom Pastor» a shrine located in
Bica da Cana, in Paul da Serra, which held a special place in Father Bernardino’s heart. The shrine has a
small statue of the Good Shepherd placed there by Father Bernardino,and blessed and inaugurated by the
Bishop of Funchal on September 12,2020. Father António Paulo, parish priest of Assomada and Achada, presided over the ceremony where a plaque was unveiled in honour of Father Bernardino.

Our beloved priest, Father Bernardino, passed away on the 18th January, 2024. Over his long ministry he touched the hearts and inspired many people with his message of love. His funeral was held on Saturday, the 20th January, at the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Luz in Ponta do Sol at 11a.m.

A special commemoration of Father Bernardino's life was conducted at the English Mass at the Chapel of Penha da França on the 19th January, 2024).
