The Chapel of Penha de França is situated in Rua Penha da Franca, opposite the hotel with the same name and down the road from Moynihan´s Irish Pub.
We are in walking distance from both the cruise quays and the hotel district.
From Cruise Quays
From the main quay, walk towards Funchal until you get to the roundabout. On the left hand side of the roundabout there are a flight of steps leading to the road above with is Rua Penha de França. Ascend the stairs and turn left at the top and walk for about 75 metres and you will find the chapel on your left.
From Hotel Zone
Walk towards Funchal along Estrada Monumental. Cross over the bridge after Reids hotel. Turn right at Rua Carvalho Araujo towards the Carlton Hotel. At the next pedestrian crossing, cross over and turn left into Rua Imperatriz D. Amelia. Carry on along this street for about 100 metres and at the next intersection (Moynihan’s Bar) turn right into Rua de Penha de França. Walk down this road for about 75 metres and you will see the chapel near the bottom of the road.
