The Roman Catholic English Service Mass in Madeira
The English service mass in Madeira is held every Sunday at 10a.m at the Chapel of the Penha de França.
The celebrant of the mass is Father Bernadino, who is natural to Madeira but spent many years working in Mozambique and the United States of America. Father Bernadino is a tireless champion of the poor and downtrodden of Madeira, and has been instrumental in establishing the People helping People Project, which strives to alleviate the suffering of poverty stricken people on the island.
Instrumental music is provided by the sisters, Catia and Helena Marques. In addition Cátia is a talented singer.
After the mass join us for tea and coffee in the cottage at the bottom of the garden. All are welcome.
Mass in Portuguese
In addition to the English service Mass, there are Portuguese services at the Chapel of Penha de França at 6.30 pm on Saturdays and 11.30 am on Sundays. These services are celebrated by Father Vitor.
